With a strong focus on parent involvement, the more informed parents are the better students perform.
Financial Accountability
We should fund Cecil County Public Schools but blank checks are not the answer. We need smart budgeting.
My Decision Making Skills
1. Identify
First we identify the cause of our issues. Why are test scores low? What would make our schools safer? How can we execute policies and create change that is effective?
2. Collaborate
Begin by working with others that are the experts in their respective fields. Ask teachers what works and what doesn't. Identify safety issues and investigate solutions.
3. Craft Policy
Create Policy that makes sense. Make policy that works for all students and not just a handful. Utilize tools that are already in place so that we are not reinventing the wheel.
4. Follow Up
Is this working the way we thought it would? Did the policy make things better. Was the reaction of the students, teachers, and parents positive or negative? Do we need to pivot in a different direction?
Why Dominick Mannella for Board of Education
Dom currently lives in Rising Sun with his wife and two children who both attend CCPS. As a father and a Cecil County resident Dom knows the importance education plays in our future. He believes that Cecil County can provide the best education to its students but changes will need to be made. We cannot subject ourselves and our children to another four years of the status quo. We must make a change and the change starts now!
